Alright guys sorry for the gap in writing, finally found a computer with decent internet. done quite alot since i last wrote, probably about 40 hours on buses and covered the most of the west coast of peru. Left Chacapoyas and headed to the coastal city of trujilio on a night bus. saw the famous ruins of Chan Chan, which were decided top be the greatest sand castle ever built, but over all abit disapointing. Also saw the temple of the moon, which was alot more interesting and hell opf a lot cheaper. Left trujilio the same night and headed to huraz.
Huraz is a small town in the middle of the costerilla blanca which is a massive moutain range with 24 peaks over 6000m, awsome place, snow capped mountains everywhere you looked. First day headed up a mountain called churrap to a lagoon which was about 600m below the summint. amazing place, will put some photos up. took us 1 hour 15 to get up and 39 minutes to run down, recomended quide time was 3 hours, pah! next day didnt do much really as it saturday night and a bottle of cashasha was taking its toll so chilled out on the roof terrace and watch a bunch of pirate dvds we got. Transformers the movie is awsome! That night we went back up the mountain to a lodge called the way in, which was having a full moon party with loads of djs and a bbq. great night and we slept in a cave which was pretty interesting. did a small walk the next day along the river. next day went to see a south american football match, which was pretty crazy, salsa music, drums, really good fun. Huraz is probably the best place i have been so far in peru and would have loved to spent more time there doing some of the longer trecks and mountain climbing courses.
After huraz we headed to lima the capital city, but there really wasnt much to see and it was quite expensive so only spent two nights there, visiting a few museums and a black market where you could get all the designer clothing you wanted for 2 quid, bought a few more dvds as well...
next stop was Huaccachina an oasis about 5 miles out of ica, arrived late on a tuesday night so didnt really see much, but woke up the next morning to find the town surrounded by massive sand dunes. Respectivly booked ourselves onto a dune buggy trip and sand boarding, which was quality, found myself to be abit of a natural..
In Nazca at the moment to see the lines , got a 1 hour plane journey booked for today then catch a night bus to arequipa. Hope your all well. Rob x
